There’s a certain kind of session that leans all the way into mood—and Derek and Ida understood the assignment.

We started at the iconic Warwick Melrose Hotel, which gave us everything we needed: rich interiors, timeless architecture, and just enough edge to play. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, it was clear this session was going to be about energy as much as imagery

Inside the Library Bar, we shifted gears. Direct flash, tight framing, and a little attitude transformed the space into something cinematic. These weren’t soft, whispery engagement photos—they were bold, editorial, and a little unexpected. Derek and Ida brought a natural confidence that made those flash moments feel effortless instead of forced.

We moved through the lobby and out to the grand entrance, letting the architecture do what it does best—add structure and scale. The columns, the symmetry, the weight of the building… it all grounded the session while still leaving room for movement and personality. Some moments felt dramatic and refined, others playful and unfiltered. That contrast is what made it work.

From there, we headed into Downtown Dallas to catch the last light of the day.

Downtown gave us a completely different rhythm—open streets, clean lines, and that golden hour glow hitting just right. We chased the sun between buildings, found pockets of columns and texture, and let the city create a more relaxed, candid feel to close things out.

This session is a perfect example of what happens when you mix classic architecture with a couple who’s willing to lean into the moment. A little drama, a little movement, and just enough edge to keep it interesting.
