Sometimes we have to be a little creative in your wedding day timeline to guarantee the best outcome for your photographs. Early on in our discussion about your wedding I will check the sunset time on your day and plug that into a mock timeline with your ceremony and reception to ensure we plan to shoot outdoors in the best light. If the sun sets before your ceremony or very close to your ceremony conclusion we will typically discuss 2 solutions:
The easiest solution is a first look as that allows us to schedule all your romantic portraits hours before the sun is gone. If you have been dreaming of that big door opening moment though this may not be for you so….
Solution 2 is flipping your formal family photos and romantic couple portraits. Typically after the wedding we gather your family for photos and then head outside for photos of the two of you. In this scenario we will take you aside for 10 minutes right after your wedding while your family and wedding party congregates at the ceremony site. This gives you some time to really take in that you are married and utilize that last bit of light as the sun is setting. We utilized this option for the wedding below and you an see the outcome is perfection!
The most important take away is that you let us know what you want, what you value and the experts (your planner and I) will ensure that it flows and works for your desired outcome.
