While you will likely hire many vendors local to your destination there are some that you can take with you and I am a firm believer that selecting a local photographer to you can actually be the right choice.

When hiring vendors you are going to have to put allot of trust into your own research and the word of other vendors in your chosen destination. But when you hire a photographer in your neck of the woods you can select someone you already know from friends weddings and reputation. For Meagan & John, I had photographed many of their friends and will actually be photographing another one of their friends this summer! John knew I was fun, easy to work with and lightning fast at formal portraits. They knew not only would they be comfortable with me but that the photos would be exceptional. During their consult I joked that I could be their little piece of Texas at their Telluride, Colorado Wedding.

Having the same photographer from consultation, through portraits and into the wedding weekends means you have consistency in your images. Locally we are able to photograph your engagement and bridal portraits before we board the plane for the big day. Your images will feel cohesive and you will feel super comfortable in front of the camera. When we walked into the getting ready cabins these two welcomed us as friends and were so excited to share their day with us.

With a new destination I enter with fresh eyes. I will of course research locations, rules, lighting, best times of day and all that but I actually limit myself from looking at other weddings at the same location. I want to walk into your selected destination the week of your wedding to scout out and plan YOUR wedding photos, not copy anyone else’s. I walk every inch, plan poses and the flow of your day. This approach worked so well for this San Sophia Overlook wedding as I found viewpoints that are less popular and unique for Meagan & John.
