You have selected your venues and are in the thick of making decisions for your wedding day. As your planner starts suggesting hotels for room blocks it will come time to decide where you will spend you wedding night and where all those important getting ready moments will happen.
Although hotels are beautiful if you are a local or you have taken it back to your hometown for the wedding festivities you can also consider your family home.
Getting ready at the home you stood on the steps before prom and had countless sleepovers with your besties is a way to bring a little nostalgia and story telling to your day. I photographed both Emma and her Sister, Chelsea, at their childhood home on their wedding days. It was beautiful to watch them laugh in the kitchen and sit on the sofa petting their dogs during wedding prep. To have makeup artists gathered around in Mom’s bathroom. Then to have a first look with Dad in the backyard. These spots have a history and we were able to use the locations that meant the most to Emma on her wedding day.
Grant, the groom, choose their future home for his preparation. Surrounded by his best friends they toasted, watched college football and got him ready for his wedding and the future. What a special first soiree to have in their new home!
Although we always want our couples to select locations with lots of light, pretty backgrounds and that are easily accessible when you can adding a layer of emotion helps too! Where are you getting ready for your big day?
