Are you getting married and the big day is about more than joining two people? Are you joining two families? Often couples are bringing children into their marriage and on your wedding day you have the opportunity to include them and make them feel just as special as you do. This wedding is a beautiful example of how having your children at your side can make the day even more powerful.
Here are some tips to include your most important bridal party, your kids.
Give them a function on the wedding day. For littles they can serve as ring bearers or flower girls but older children still need a role. JR bridesmaids or groomsmen are a way to include young teens but what about adult children? We have seen adult kids give touching speeches, give their Mom away or even serve as best man. The key is finding a role that suits their age.
Invite them into the ceremony by adding to your vows a portion about them. Make promises about how your family will work moving forward. Sometimes during the ceremony is the perfect time to do a symbolic act like a gift or action (puzzle, sand art, etc…)
Create moments through the day to connect with your children. Have them hang out during getting ready or take portraits with them and with your new spouse. At the end of the day you should have a beautiful new family portrait.
For this private estate wedding the Bride was bringing a son into the marriage and the Groom had two daughters. Check out how they included them and spent time together creating some priceless storytelling images.
