Jennifer and Chad were married on a very rainy day in August at Arborlawn Methodist Church with a reception to follow at The Modern Art Museum. Jenn is sweet as pie and just has one of those bubbly personalities that brings a smile to your face. Chad is the chill and laid back guy that makes you feel at ease. These two are the perfect balance for one another and I loved spending the day with them. It may have rained but it let up before their farewell allowing us to go downtown for some photos before calling it a day. Thanks to all the vendors who made their day so picture perfect:
Ann & John’s wedding was a perfect party which is exactly what this couple wanted, a fun day with dancing, family and lots of laughs. It went by SO fast that when the band played the last song no one could believe it was time to leave. I met up with the couple at The Omni Hotel in Fort Worth for preparations. Halo Salon joined us for hair and makeup and they created Ann’s mermaid like waves. After Ann slipped into her dress and John passed out the cowboy hats (his groomsmen gift) she awaited him on the balcony where they had their first look. The above photo is one of my favorite from our short time on the windy terrace before we sought the calm and cool of indoors. Read on for more about their day and check back tomorrow for their beyond amazing reception at The Modern with Emerald City.
Their day was made ever so beautiful with the help of the following vendors:
Legacy Cakes – cupcakes & cake pops
I LOVE, love, LOVED Ann’s bridesmaid attire (and her gown from Bliss Bridal). She was so savvy and had all of her girls find a dress of their liking in the same color palette. It looked so smart.
swoon…..shoes that sparkle steal my heart.
Ann’s Mom laughing and enjoying the girls during the preparations.
Showing of the bling!
Love Ann’s sisters face as she overhears Ann’s future plans for her. They have to have babies together (and she needs to move back to Texas!)
John getting a little help from his little brother with his tie. Their suits were so clean and modern.
Time for the dress!
Daddy of the bride was HILARIOUS! This was his reaction to his daughter in her gown. 🙂
Stunning and awaiting her groom.
See any similarities in reaction? Adore that John thought his wife to be so beautiful that his jaw dropped.
Playing with props – Love that all these boys are going home to their non-cowboy states with hats that say TEXAS!
Feeling a little John Wayne.
Ann beamed as she approached the altar for her wedding ceremony.
A big embrace as Dad trusts his little girl to John.
Boys will be boys and these one played tricks. The last groomsmen held the ring and as each man looked back to the next then passed it forward to the best man the crowd chuckled.
They had such a smashing first part of their wedding day but the romantic portraits to come at The Modern and the dance party provided by Emerald City was KILLER!!!!
LOVE does not begin to describe how I feel abut the photo – Andy Warhol, Marilyn Monroe, available gallery light and one very in love couple is my idea of perfect.
This wedding was SO amazing. It had everything a wedding needs to make me a very happy photographer. The best couple that is head over heels in love with each other. My favorite team of vendors, coolest venues in Fort Worth and the undeniable prescience of God. Through out their day I had goose bumps, teary eyes and a smile plastered to my face. I could not be happier for Summer and Paul and I hope to be a part of their journey together in the years to come as they are extraordinary people. I think if you take a moment to look at their images you will see why.
Thanks to the team who made it so perfect!
Summer cried as she read Paul’s note to her before the ceremony and she gasped when she opened the pearl necklace he gave her. So sweet.
Pure excitement as Summer’s Sister-in-law helped with the veil
I am a sucker for emotion and my favorite is when it comes from the groom, he teared up as he read her note as well. So in love.
Ready to walk down the aisle, look at her smile…glowing.
So happy to see his beautiful bride.
This amazing floral art work by Tami Winn was the coolest thing I have ever seen at a reception.
The above shot is the one thing that this couple KNEW they wanted before ever even looking for a photographer. I think we nailed it and I can’t wait to see it hanging in their home!
As an artist I just adore being able to photograph people in front of Iconic work by Rothco or Warhol….It is just beyond special.
One of my favorites! love all the neutral tones.
This photo takes on a special meaning. Not knowing about her Dad’s speech to come I took this image. Later on as her Dad spoke he remembered a photo he has of a young Summer, hands on her face, posing in front of this very artwork. Some things change but some things never do.
Neck nuzzling is the best.
Her Grandpa moved me to tears when he spoke. What a God filled man with words of wisdom and Love for his little girl and her cowboy.
Private last dance
These two are my ideal clients: Smart, fun, lovers and collectors of art, planning a killer wedding at one of my favorite locations and well, gorgeous. With all that in their favor I wanted them from the moment I met them and I was ready jump over the moon when they hired me. I was also really excited to shoot the first part of their engagement session at their soon to be home in the Monticello neighborhood of Fort Worth. They haven’t moved in yet but you can see by the outside what a beautiful space it is and I promise the inside is even better. Summer and Paul laid their trust in me and we ran around town, played and I got to do some things I have been wanting too for awhile. Summer and Paul met at Times Ten Cellar and Paul was very persistent in courting Summer, he sent her a list of possible first dates that I don’t think any woman could turn down so she accepted. I know she was glad she did, he is a great catch and a very loving man. He proposed in Istanbul so he may win the prize for coolest spot ever to pop the question. Their wedding is only a few short months away in February at The Modern.
Ann and John live in San Francisco but are getting married here in Texas next year. Ann is originally from Fort Worth so I had met with her Mom who is handling most of the planning for them (got to love the Mom’s that make long distance planning possible) and was excited to meet the both of them at their engagement session. We hit it off right away and dived right in to taking some photos. With John being a true California guy I had to search my brain for he least “Texas” looking locations so that the photos would be perfect for both of them. We always strive when picking locations to properly represent both the bride and groom and it can be easy to leave some ones personality out if you are not aware of their differences. I think these two are a perfect match though, John just didn’t know what he needed was a perfect Southern girl from Texas until he met Ann. They actually met by becoming roommates! These two shared a home with a few others and started hanging out, became friends and their relationship just grew from there. I can’t wait to see them again next May especially because they are having their reception at one of my very favorite venues, The Modern in Fort Worth!
The reception is when the FUN happens and it is also where we get to see the hard work of Eugenia & Michael’s team. I fell completely in love with the purple motif created in the grand lobby and cafe modern by Philip Combs Designs, Dayna Tooley Events, Specialty Sound & MM Special Events. The floral was smart and crisp and the repetition of the sliver branches that mimicked the sculpture on the grounds was ingenious. The lounge furniture and purple up-lighting gave the cafe the ultimate swanky feeling. The food by The Modern was delicious as always and Eugenia, Michael and their guests and a fabulous time dancing the night away. The yummy cake was by Creme de la Creme.
There are two things I LOVE, love, LOVE to photograph. Breathtaking romantic portraits and moments that happen once and give me goose bumps. First looks make both these things happen and are there fore my favorite thing. NOW, they are not for everyone. In fact most of my brides and grooms are quite traditional and opt to see each other for the first time when her Daddy gives her away. For my brides that are a bit modern and don’t feel married to tradition it is an opportunity like no other. Complete privacy when she is unveiled as a bride and time to talk, hug, kiss and be excited with no prying eyes (except my lens.) Eugenia and Michael choose to see each other behind the Rose Garden at the Botanic Garden on a less traveled path for some intimacy. I just glowed, almost as much as Micheal, when they embraced and cheesed it up at each other. What happened after was ample time to play in the gardens, photograph the families and bridal party as well time at the Fort Worth Modern. The Modern is truly a treat to photograph at, how can it not be? Surrounded by world class architecture and modern works of art… is definitely my cup of tea. It is also a one of a kind shoot as ONLY couples having their wedding reception are allowed to take photos in the galleries. Come back by tomorrow to see their highlights slide show as well as their details and reception blog!
Last Monday I spent the morning with this fantastic couple. Usually we do engagement sessions in the afternoon but Eugenia and Michael are planning their wedding under special circumstances and this was absolutely the ONLY time I could ever get them in to the studio. These two are both officers in the military currently stationed at Fort Hood. They have enlisted the help of wedding planner, Dayna Tooley, so that planning from afar would be easier for Eugenia. They came in town last weekend for another whirlwind planning weekend and met with me on Saturday, booked on Sunday then we shot engagement photos on Monday. They also nailed down their cake, DJ did a tasting at The Modern and a few other things. Michael is moving on to his next assignment, far from Texas, so these two will only see each other a few more times between now and their April wedding. I just adored them, their goofy sense of humors and how they love on one another. Here are some of my favorites and I can’t wait for the Fort Worth Wedding at The Modern next year!
