Ashlea & Mark – Engagement Portraits in ChicagoDestination Photo Shoot

Chicago was an amazing city to explore with Ashlea and Mark.  Ashlea is a Texas girl at heart but life and schooling took her North to Chicago where she met Mark!  Now these two have made a home for themselves outside the city they love and they invited me to experience a day with them!  These two love being home – doing some yoga, working out in their home gym and enjoying some snuggling and cooking side by side.  Even though they may live in one of the coolest cities in the US their home is their sanctuary so we had to kick of the photo shoot there.  Ashlea and Mark showed off some Yoga poses and moves before playing in their yard and just getting cozy on the sofa.  As we headed into the city we stopped off at United Center – the home of the Chicago Bulls for some sports inspired photos.  Mark loves sports but most of all he loves Ashlea – he proposed to her over the holidays with an engagement ring tied to a new pair of kicks she had been eyeing.  She was so excited about the shoes she almost missed the ring!  After some playful photos it was time to get glam at the Chicago Theater.  Ashlea has a background in dance and is a dance therapist so she is amazing at knowing her body and I loved that she threw some dance inspired poses into our session.  From the alley’s of Chicago to the beach at sunset we laughed the entire day.  These two know how to live, love and laugh together well!  At sunset we caught the lights of the city behind them and the beauty of Lake Michigan.  I loved Chicago and getting to know this fabulous couple and can’t wait for their 2018 wedding here in Texas!

Congrats Ashlea & Mark and can’t wait to see you here in Fort Worth!

Jennifer & Stephen – Wedding Reception at La Cantera ResortSan Antonio, Texas

Jennifer & Stephen had such a fun party with their friends!  The reception was the end of a great week pool side, partying and loving life with their most loved.  Having a wedding that is destination – no matter how far – always makes for a special event.  At the reception everyone danced the night away – had too much fun in the mirror me photo booth and ate yummy cake, ice cream and treats!  It was perfect!  Not sure if these guys were serious about dancing?  Check out Jennifer’s kicks!  She had some awesome gold sparkly kate spade shoes to rock at the reception while all the other ladies threw on some fun gold polka dot chuck taylors.

This weekend was truly phenomenal.  We so enjoyed being there with you both and I can’t wait to see all that the future holds for you two!  Shout out to the amazing vendor team Jennifer lined up for their big day!

Jennifer & Stephen – Wedding Portraits at La Cantera ResortSan Antonio, Texas

THIS!  This is why you get married in the Texas Hill country!  So pretty!  La Cantera Resort had some great spots for romantic portraits of Stephen & Jennifer. They were such good sports in going to my out of the way spots and I am pretty sure it was worth it.  Their bridesmaids, groomsmen and attendants were so much fun and I loved all the silly props and cute things they brought to make the photos special to them.

Thank you to the vendors who made it all so pretty!

Jennifer & Stephen – Wedding Ceremony at La Cantera ResortSan Antonio, Texas

For this amazing Texas Destination wedding we traveled to La Cantera Resort outside of San Antonio.  This couple found a happy medium between being away and doing something accessible to their family and friends.  They spent several days pool side with their favorite people and had a beautiful wedding celebration on property at the resort.  Jennifer & Stephen have known each other since high school but have just been dating the last few years as life brought them back together.

Prior to the ceremony Jennifer and Stephen wanted to stay traditional but still share a special moment together.  Around the corner – without seeing one another – they exchanged gifts, had a few sweet moments and some laughter together.  I loved this surprised look as Jennifer saw her gift – she really wanted two bands to compliment her engagement ring but Stephen said that would have to wait – but he was tricky!  She was so excited!

During the ceremony overlooking the Texas Hill Country these two said I do!

Patti & Jerry – Abilene Country Club WeddingAbilene, Texas

Patti & Gerry’s wedding weekend was adorable and filled with family! These two love to laugh and their families are very important to them. For this wedding we focused on their gorgeous granddaughters and handsome grandsons who played “bridal party”. Definitely the most adorable bridal party I have ever photographed.

When together you can just see how much Patti & Gerry enjoy living life together. Patti is a stylish woman with a boisterous sprit and a love for parties! For their wedding celebration she along with the help of her God Daughter – Caroline – planned a weekend full of laughter, beautiful floral and lots of fun. I adored the lush winter color palette in reds, pinks and greenery. Patti’s Monique Lhuillier gown was dreamy with lightly dusted crystals and a flowing skirt. Gerry is planning their future trips and adventures with an RV lifestyle so for his grooms cake Creme de la Creme created a cool RV replica complete with mini Patti & Gerry’s!

So thankful I was able to get to know these families and be a part of their celebration!
Shout out to all the vendors who made the wedding weekend so beautiful and some (like me) made the drive from Dallas Fort Worth to Abilene to make everything perfect for Patti & Gerry:

Allison & Allen – New York City Engagement SessionDestination Photos

Tracy Autem 2015

I am so excited to finally share this lovely session I was oh so lucky to get to travel to New York City to photograph.  I love NYC – so much history, gorgeous architecture, public spaces and really great clients!  Allison and Allen’s story begins in New York City but next April they will be moving on to the next phase of their life in Fort Worth as they get married at Marty Leonard Chapel and The Modern.  Allison’s family may be from Texas but her life has taken her from school in California to the big apple for work.  There she met Allen and these two have had a fabulous 2 years of dating (TODAY!!! – Happy 2 Year Anniversary you guys!!!)  In February while vacationing in Utah Allen asked Allison to marry him and this kind brainy man is now marrying this athletic and sweet marathon runner.

Allison and Allen have a precious little pup, Andi, a corgi who joined us in Central Park for some photos. Love the fur babes!  We explored Bethesda Terrace and fountain as well as taking a stroll with Andi along the Mall.  After taking on the greener side of the city we hoped a subway to Brooklyn where we took in magnificent skyline views from Brooklyn Bridge Park.  Thank you two for allowing me to be in your life up in NYC and I can’t wait to see you in April!  It can simply not get her fast enough!

Cassie & Lee – Destination Wedding in Louisiana

I love different!  I love things that are meaningful and full of heart and soul.  Cassie and Lee are all about those things and every aspect of their intimate wedding getaway in Louisiana demonstrated that.  Off the beaten path in Chalybeate Springs these two married in a church that Lee’s family has attended for generations.  This heart connection was why they chose to fly a small party of their closest friends and family to the location to celebrate with them.  After a touching ceremony a light lunch reception was hosted outside the church with Cajun cuisine and cake.  The day was pulled together by the fabulous Tami Winn Events.

Thanks to all the amazing vendors both at home in Fort Worth and in Louisiana that helped make this day so beautiful.

Sarah & Brian {Married Part 2} Romantics and Reception at La Paloma Westin in Tucson, AZ

Sarah and Brian’s wedding extravaganza Part 2 includes their sweet romantic portraits, crazy bridal party and a very very very rocking reception!  After the wedding we had the most perfect sunset light and we utilized the phenomenal ceremony view for some bridal party fun.  All the ladies donned pink sunglasses and the boys showed off their striped bright socks for some shenanigans.  After we headed next door to the La Paloma Country Club where Brian works for some photos on the green.  Going into their party everyone was ready to DANCE!  And that we did, all NIGHT long!  See below for more about their fabulous night and of course their highlights slide show!

Ridiculous and I love it.

My hot pink ladies.

These boys are too cool.

I just love this photo of Brian talking with his guys.

So happy it makes my heart sing.

Dessert scape (very needed in the HOT city of Tucson)

PERSONALITY is so important.  Sarah rocked her silver sparkly TOMS and Brian donned some highlighter pink socks.

Family photos – they both are holding images from their own parents weddings.

Golf ring shot for the golfer of course!

Even before the first dance this crew was ready to party.

Love this kiss and all the movement in the photo.

I’m a fan of texture and movement and therefore I love the above.

Brian’s best friend and brother in law toasting.

Sarah’s best friend looking very emotional during her speech.

Sweet hug from Dawn, Brian’s sister after her wedding toast.

Beaming mother of the groom.

Showing of the bling!

Mother of the bride and one of Sarah’s child hood friends getting down.

Brian snuck in a little cake on her face so Sarah went all out with it.  You go girl!

Rarely do I include a photo of me but this one was to silly not too.  Thanks Levi for being a fool and Amanda for capturing my ridiculous side.

cheers!

See, the sweetest EVER!!! Love quiet, stolen moments on the dance floor amongst a crowd.

The party goers – these crazy fools stayed until the end when the band could no longer play after rocking all night.

Private last dance = <3

You know I love some darkness and a light on a stand.  It is fun, challenging and it helps me create some beautiful night portraits.  Love this one above at the entry way to the resort and the below on some sofas in the lobby.

Sarah & Brian {Married Part 1} At La Paloma Westin Resort in Tucson, AZ

It’s been a few weeks since Sarah & Brian’s wedding and frankly I had a very hard time editing their images.  These two just pulled at my heart strings so selecting images to show as my favorites has been impossible, I wanted to share every single one!  Today I am excited to share their preparations, details and ceremony.

Amanda, my associate, and I traveled to Tucson for this amazing wedding at the La Paloma Westin Resort.  Destination weddings are always a treat but are hard work as we combine a whirlwind weekend of travel, multiple events and beautiful weddings.  La Paloma is a beautiful backdrop for a wedding with one of the best views in my opinion of the Mountains.   It was a fabulous break from my Texas weddings (Can you tell I was a bit excited about mountains?)  Read on for more about their perfect day and look on the blog next week for part 2 of their wedding images!

I adored the texture in Sarah’s hair with the ribbon weaved through it.

She was excited and SO cute about everything.

Brian works at the La Paloma Country Club with the Golf Course so we had to brave the 100+ heat for at least one photo on the green.

Love the squishy face.

A sweet kiss between Brian and his Mom.

Brian was a ball of emotion (one more reason I loved him as a groom) and as he opened his wedding gift from Sarah he fell apart.  This is his sister hugging him when he needed it.

Sarah putting on her wedding gift, custom designed earrings.

Brian walking his Grandma down the aisle.

Brian’s Father and Mother.

Sarah’s Brother and Mother.

Sarah’s brother escorted her down the aisle.

Did I mention Brian was emotional??  I have too many photos of him crying with joy that I could barely choose.

After their first kiss (above) I love that the embraced and savored the moment (below.)

Brian holding his bride after they departed the ceremony.  Stay tuned next week for more images and their best of slide show!

Sarah & Brian {Engaged Part 1} Destination Photography in Tucson, Arizona

I had such a fabulous time in Tucson last weekend with Sarah & Brian.  This couple lives in Tucson and I can’t wait to travel back next year for the wedding!  Sarah is an Arkansas native but lived in Texas for a few years and we became fast friends.  Life moved her on to Arizona where she met Brian who is a Tucson native and when he asked her to marry him while on a trip to Italy earlier this year Sarah thought of me for their wedding.  I am so glad she did as it was great to catch up with her after years of not seeing each other and Brian is a treat.  So many of my couples express that they are nervous and scared about photos, most warm up real quick and Brian was a good example.  By the end of the weekend Brian had thrown in his own ideas and been up for almost anything (he is my kinda guy, Sarah you did good!)  Destination shoots are special in that the two hour, two outfit rules do not apply and we mostly just have fun, hang out and explore.  Part 1 of their rocking session includes our early morning trip to 4th Avenue in Tucson (to avoid the afternoon heat) and our post rain shower walk with their fur babies:  Sadie, Jackson, Coda.  Can’t wait to share more later this week as we explored Mt. Lemon, invaded a skating rink for a quick few photos and enjoyed a dessert sunset.
